About

If you’ve found your way here, you might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down. Perhaps you’re managing on the outside — working, caring for others, getting through the day — while inside everything feels tight, busy, or constantly on edge. Many people I work with tell me they’ve been coping for a long time, often quietly, and wondering whether their struggles are “bad enough” to seek support.

You don’t have to reach a breaking point to deserve help.

I’m Clare, a counsellor specialising in working with people who experience anxiety and persistent worry. I offer online therapy, providing a calm, supportive space where you can slow things down, talk openly, and begin to feel more anchored again.

A space where you don’t have to have it all figured out

It’s completely fine to arrive in therapy feeling tired, frazzled, unsure where to begin, or worried about whether you’re “doing therapy right”.

My experience is that when people feel genuinely heard — without judgement or pressure — something begins to soften. Being deeply listened to can help us develop greater kindness and empathy towards ourselves, which for many people feels like a kind of homecoming.

I work collaboratively and at your pace. You don’t need to have the right words, a clear goal, or a neatly packaged explanation of how you’re feeling. We can begin exactly where you are.

How I understand anxiety

I don’t see anxiety as a personal failing or a sign of weakness. Often, it’s a nervous system that has been working very hard to keep you safe — especially in a demanding world where many people carry a lot of responsibility and self-expectation.

In therapy, anxiety can be explored as an invitation: a signal that something isn’t quite working, or that an inner critical voice has become loud and relentless. Rather than trying to force anxiety away, we can make space to explore what it’s asking for and find ways to respond with greater warmth, understanding, and choice.

Over time, people often find they feel calmer in their mind and body, more connected to themselves, and more confident in how they respond to life’s challenges.

How I work

I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly and be met with care, respect, and understanding. Our relationship is foundational to our work together, and I take time to understand how your life seems from your perspective. From there, I may gently introduce practical ideas or tools to help with anxiety, and this could also involve looking at how your thoughts, emotions and choices interrelate. Everything we do is guided by you — your pace, your values, and what feels right for you.

Our work might involve:

  • Developing a kinder relationship with yourself
  • Understanding patterns of worry and overthinking
  • Learning ways to feel more grounded and steady when anxiety shows up
  • Creating space for acceptance, clarity, and hope

Above all, our work is collaborative, and we work together to find an approach that fits you.

A gentle invitation

If you’re thinking about counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch. There’s no obligation — just an opportunity to ask questions or see whether working together feels right for you.

You don’t have to cope alone, and you don’t have to have everything sorted before you begin.
